I’m Josh, and I’m beyond excited to have you as part of the Overgrown Tales community! 🏞️ Whether you’re an experienced adventurer or just getting into hiking, camping, and backpacking, this space is for you.

A Bit About Me:

My journey outdoors started decades ago when my father would take us out into the forests and mountains surrounding us in Washington state, we would head into the evergreen loaded to bear with camping gear and loads of heavy blue tarps to protect us from the ever present rainfall. I won't lie at first I thought it wasn't all that fun but it wasn’t long before I began to really fall in love with the rhythm of nature—the quiet moments at sunrise, the challenges of the trail, and the thrill of discovering new places.

As I grew up I had life get in the way as many do, getting sidetracked for work and then marriage and then having a kid. In the last 5 years though I have really begun to re-experience the outdoors and have taken trips to do the Appalachian Trail approach trail and touch Springer Mountains first white blaze, explored the Lone Star Hiking Trail, the Eagle Rock Loop and Ouachita Trail and so much more.

I've realized I love getting outside, whether camping on a simple family or on the flip side getting others out of their electronics driven, urban sprawl life getting out and live the life we were born for, whether that is camping trips, hiking, backpacking, or the ultimate challenge of thruhiking.

Overgrown Tales is born out of that passion, and I’m here to share all of it with you—from trail stories to practical tips, gear reviews, and everything in between.
